Credit Agricole is simplifying is structure and selling back its stakes in nearly 40 regional lenders its holds as a mutual bank. This restructuring will release capital and reduce the complexity of the group and follows Rabobank's recent decision as a co-operative bank to restructure as well. Best guesses is that this could add 20bps or more to the parent's Tier 1 ratio, which was well above 10% in the autumn.
