Institutional Investor magazine has penned an article entitled Silicon Roundabout, which highlights the growing role that London is playing in the cross section of technology and financial services. A couple of interesting observations emerge from this article - only in London is the financial sector and the technology hub so close, un-like in the US. Also, government support is significant - a government backed FI is doubling its investment into the sector to $250mio, good regulatory balance (recall in the US state by state issues often make FinTech business challenging), excellent infrastructure and a growing talent pool of some 44,000. London also boasts 26 business accelerators. In 2014, the UK had 14 tech IPOs.
