HSBC BOUND FOR AMERICA?

The FT wonders if HSBC may seek to re-domicile in the US as noted in recent articles by Brooke Masters and other news sources.  But is the US the natural home for a large emerging markets focused bank? 

Some believe the HKMA nearly opened up the cupboard for the bank, but would global markets accept a bank ultimately supervised by Beijing? On the other hand, there is a growing perception that US supervisors welcome global banking models more warmly than elsewhere, so let's see how this may pan out tomorrow when the bank announces Q3 results and possibly a further update on its future domicile.
