Boards increasingly involved in CFO choice

The WSJ ran an article late last month entitled "Boards join in on CFO picks" by Joann Lublin which highlights the increasingly prevalent activity of board engagement in CFO recruiting.  The article highlights recent corporate examples of such practice, including Google, Avon and Newell Rubbermaid. Not only are boards considering recruitment of CFOs, but also some boards are increasingly involved in removal of the incumbent CFO as well. Audit committees are increasingly driving this process and may also assume active roles in drafting of CFO job description and interviewing activities.

Such trends are signs of the dynamic tug of war between boards and CEOs.  See this article at http://www.wsj.com/articles/boards-join-in-on-cfo-picks-1427761542.
